Open Access (OA) literature is digital, online, free of charge, and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. What makes it possible is the internet and the consent of the author or copyright-holder.

Open Educational Resources (OER) are articles, ebooks, books, images, and other materials that may be used by faculty and students without restrictions. These materials are released under an open license that permits their free use and adaptation by others. Enjoy our newest LibGuide!

Adelphi University has recently joined the Open Library of Humanities’ Library Partnership Subsidy system. The Open Library of Humanities is an academic-led, gold open-access publisher with no author-facing charges. With funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the platform covers its costs by payments from an international library consortium, rather than any kind of author fee.

Professor Martin Paul Eve, a founder and academic project director of the OLH, welcomed Adelphi University: “It is brilliant to have Adelphi University on board. Open access is clearly the future of scholarly communications and, with our model, we will ensure the broadest availability of humanities research.”
