About the Center

We’re addressing Long Island’s critical and enduring social issues.

The mission of the Institute for Social Research and Community Engagement (iSoRCE) is twofold.

• We aim to generate actionable knowledge through collaborative social research.
• We use that knowledge to better understand and address Long Island’s critical and enduring social issues.

Both our research process and the information it generates bolster our capacity to improve the health, environmental, social, economic, and cultural conditions of communities across Long Island. Rather than developing top-down solutions for social problems, we incorporate community questions, priorities, and perspectives into study design, data collection, and analysis. We then work with community partners to explore and take action on the findings.
